As heard on BBC Introducing and Cambridge 105fm New Music Generator

Hailed as “an important contribution to the folk tradition,” South of Polaris are taking the UK folk scene by storm with their spellbinding, one-of-a-kind sound.
This Bedfordshire-based duo—Danii Reales (vocals and violin) and Saúl Díaz (electro- classical guitar)—blend the fiery soul of southern Spain’s Flamenco traditions with a passion for Folk, Rock, and Theatrical influences. Add to that their raw, heartfelt lyrics, and you have a musical identity that’s both exquisitely quirky and refreshingly grounded.
In just two short years, South of Polaris have made an impressive mark, earning spots on Alan Ritson’s Fine Folk (Lincoln City Radio), The Folk Club (Burwell Radio), Cambridge Radio and BBC Introducing. Their captivating live performances have seen them open for Mad Dog Mcrea at Hertford Corn Exchange and grace stages like The Bigg Theatre in Biggleswade, Ventnor Fringe on the Isle of Wight, The Albany in London, The Horn in St Albans, and Kontra Roots Club in Northamptonshire. Their 2025 journey began with a set at the West Coast Folk Festival at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool followed by opening for Ríoghnanch Connolly & Honeyfeet during their recent tour.
Their success has not gone unnoticed. In 2024, they were nominated for a Cambridge Radio NMG Award in the Folk and Americana category, alongside notable acts like Imlac and Christina Alden & Alex Patterson. Capping off an incredible year, they released their debut EP, The Year After, in December 2024, cementing their place as rising voices in the folk scene.
